Guidance

It is our vision that a TCHS graduate is prepared to create a successful and productive future within the world community.  Therefore, we encourage students to explore career options and create a post secondary plan to support their career interests. It is essential for students to understand high school diploma options and select challenging courses to support their career and post-secondary plan. The information below will assist future graduates in researching careers, understanding diplomas and selecting appropriate courses to ensure they are prepared for a successful and productive future.

SCHOLARSHIPS 2022-2023

Tipton County Foundation Scholarships:  Go to https://www.tiptoncf.orgYou may create your account and apply for scholarships starting on January 1, 2023. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2023.

Sharpsville Lions Club Scholarship:
Graduating seniors who are enrolled in a four-year college or university or trade school. You must have a 2.2 gpa or better to apply. There will be two (2) $500 scholarships given this year. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Tipton County Extension Homemakers Scholarship:
This scholarship is available to graduating seniors who are enrolled in an INDIANA college, university, vocational, or trade school for post high school training. Preference will be given to a relative of an Extension Homemaker Club member. This award is valued at $300. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

In Memory of Dylan Jordan (Spirit of 9 Baseball Scholarship
Applications are available in the Guidance Office for the Dylan Jordan Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is valued at $1,000.

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship -
Each year the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 150 college scholarships worth $20,000 to high school students across the United States through the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Students need a 3.0 GPA and to fill out an online application that requires no essays, no recommendations, and no transcripts. Find details at www.Cokeurl.com/scholarships

Hagan
Scholarship   -   Student must have a 3.75 GPA or higher. Also must have scored a 24 or higher on the ACT or 1150 or higher on the SAT. (Total Score)  Go to the following website for more information and to apply: www.hsfmo.org.

Fastweb Scholarships   -  You may go to www.fastweb.ccom to create a profile and start your scholarship search.

Community Foundation of Howard County Scholarships:

Howard-Tipton County AFL-CIO Scholarship   -  Applicants may be union members or have a parent or guardian who is a member of a labor union.  Proof of union membership must be uploaded to the application.

IGWA Joseph L. Armstrong Family in Business Scholarship  -  Recipients must be a member of immediate family member of the Indiana Ground Water Association.

Military Foundation Major General David L. Harris Memorial Scholarship  -  Preference will be given to a student of past or present Indiana Army National Guard service members, including parents, grandparents, or siblings.

Linda F. Pagel Scholarship  -  Must be in upper 25% of their class who intend to pursue a career in teaching or a health related career.

R.A.C.I. Scholarship  -  scholarship for students pursuing a degree in business at an Indiana accredited post-secondary educational institution.

Jeffrey A. Stout Scholarship - for students who are pursuing a degree in mortuary science. If no qualified student applies, the secondary purpose is to support students pursuing a degree in paramedic or fire science.

Knights of Pythias-Grand Domain of Indiana Scholarship  -  Must have a 3.0 or above GPA to apply.  Go to the following website to apply:  www.knightsofpythiasofnewcastle.com.  Click on "event forms" at the top of the page, then on PUBLIC Academic Assistance form/rules.

America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship  -  The America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders program is offering a $1,500 scholarship in an ag-related field of study, helping to grow the next generation of ag leaders.  More info to follow in November, 2021.

Jerry Gappens Athletic Memorial Scholarship  -  This scholarship is for seniors who are enrolled in a four-year college, university, or vocational school. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have been a high school athlete. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Turn in completed form to Ms. Cook.

Kaleb Fowler Memorial Scholarship  -  The Kaleb Fowler Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the TC Football Parents Club and is available for application to high school senior students who were members of the Tri-Central HS Football Team during their senior year of high school. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Please fill out and return to Ms. Cook.

Austin Lodge #128 Scholarship - Austin Lodge #128 will be awarding 2 - $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Tri-Central. If you are enrolling in either a 2 or 4-year college or trade school and have a GPA of 2.5 or better you may apply for this scholarship. See the Guidance Office for an application.

GONGAWARE SCHOLARSHIP

If you are planning on attending Indiana State University and are interested in a career in risk management, insurance or financial services, you may apply for the Gongaware Scholarship.  This scholarship amounts to $9,000 per year (valued at over $36,000 over four (4) years).

Eligible students must meet at least two (2) of the three (3) following qualifications:

* Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale

*Achieve a ranking in the top 15 percent of your high school graduating class

*1140 SAT (Reading and Writing and Math Total) or 23 Composite on ACT

You must first be accepted to ISU.

You may apply for the Tipton County Foundation scholarships beginning on December 15, 2020.

The new 2021-2022 FAFSA form is available. Some states and schools have limited funds, so don't delay filling yours out! To begin your application go to the following website:

PROJECT CONNECT

The Tipton Hospital Foundation is pleased to invite Tipton County Juniors and Seniors to participate in "Project Connect".  This one semester program is an exciting opportunity for young people to connect with the community.  The goals of this initiative are:

Connect youth to structured volunteer opportunities.
Connect community organizations and businesses to a program that provides a vehicle for them to provide structured youth service opportunities.
Connect interested youth to a centralized program.
Connect youth with educational opportunities in the area of leadership and life skills that complement their formal education.
Connect youth and their community.
Connect participants with local opportunities for future employment, encouraging youth to choose Tipton as their adult home.
Connect youth with an opportunity to earn a Certificate of Leadership and Service, providing substance to scholarship and college applications.
