Tri-Central Community Schools School Bus Policy Tri-Central Community Schools always strives for student safety. We have recently seen an increase in the number of parents requesting bus changes, primarily at the end of the school day. The following will be the policy for granting a bus change: 1) To request a different bus, a parent must submit a signed request (note) to the appropriate school office. Students may only ride a different bus due to childcare issues or a severe family emergency. The appropriate administrator/transportation director will then sign off on the note indicating to the bus driver that the student is to ride on their bus. Administration will make the final determination for emergency situations. 2) During the registration process parents and guardians are given the opportunity to select their transportation choice. Parents may choose a daycare location or alternate pickup/drop-off location. 3) TCCS cannot have students changing buses from those that are designated as their assigned bus. 4) The school and students work best when there is a regular routine for AM/PM transportation. By establishing these policies, we will: a. Know where the child is supposed to be. b. Reduced confusion with the student, bus driver, school, and teachers. c. Teachers know assigned bus at the end of the school day. d. Reduction of phone calls to the school for “lost children” due to changes in end of the day arrangements. 5) Drivers have a master list of all students that are assigned to their bus. If we continue to allow daily changes this will create a huge safety issue in the event there would be a bus crash.

TCCS Parents and Guardians: Student registration is currently open, and we are reminding parents to please register ASAP. If you have not registered your student (s) they will not be on a bus list for the coming school year which means that we will not know to pick them up. We have three new bus drivers this year so this is imperative for parents to complete registration preferably by tonight. Once we know your child’s bus information, we will have the driver’s contact parents with pick up and drop off times. Meet the Teacher night is Thursday from 4-6:00 PM. We encourage students to bring their school supplies with them. Elementary students are invited to visit the concession stand before leaving the building. School begins on Friday at 8 AM.

The Tri-Central Community mourn the loss of long-time bus driver of Route #11, Denny Amsbury. Denny passed away Sunday morning after a short battle with cancer. Denny served our Tri-Central students for over 30+ years as he followed in his father's footsteps as a TC bus driver. His reliability and dedication to the students on his route was unmatched. His smiling face every morning as he greeted our students will be sorely missed. People like Denny are what makes a small school like Tri-Central be so special. Please keep Denny's family and the Tri-Central Community in your prayers. https://obituaries.kokomotribune.com/obituary/dennis-amsbury-1088557187
